The Tampa Bay Rays have signed infielder Isaac Paredes to a one-year, $3.4 million contract for the 2024 season, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The deal includes a guaranteed salary of $3.4 million and an average annual salary of $3.4 million.
Paredes, 25, is a versatile infielder who can play third base, shortstop, and second base. He batted .221 with 12 home runs and 52 RBIs in 142 games with the Rays in 2023.
The signing of Paredes gives the Rays some much-needed depth in the infield. The team is expected to lose shortstop Wander Franco to free agency this offseason, and Paredes could be in line to take over at shortstop next season.
