Boston Red Sox Place Jarren Duran on Injured List

Retroactive Move to August 21st

Subpar Performance in 2023 Season

The Boston Red Sox have placed second baseman Jarren Duran on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 21, 2023. The move comes amidst a disappointing season for Duran, who has struggled to replicate his 2022 form. In 102 games this season, Duran has batted .295 with 98 hits, 8 home runs, 40 RBIs, and 46 runs scored. These numbers represent a significant drop-off from his 2022 season, in which he hit .273 with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 63 runs scored in 160 games.

The Red Sox are hoping that the time spent on the injured list will allow Duran to recover and return to his previous level of play. In his absence, the team is expected to give more playing time to Enrique Hernandez and Yolmer Sanchez at second base.

Duran's injury is a blow to the Red Sox, who are currently battling for a playoff spot in the American League East. The team is currently fourth in the division, but they are only 1.5 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays.
